The next Forum public meeting is coming up in September. This will be our formal AGM as well as covering the usual updates and consultation on the Forum’s ongoing work. The meeting is open to everyone with an interest in the Neighbourhood but only Forum members will be able to vote on AGM issues.
The AGM will appoint (or reappoint) the Forum’s four elected officers in accordance with the constitution. Members can offer proposals for discussion at the meeting as long as these are submitted at least seven days before the meeting.
The majority of the meeting will cover updates on progress and consultation on ideas and planned activities.
The meeting will be in the Brunswick Pub’s function room (199 Malmesbury Park Road, BH8 8PX) at 11:15 (to 12:45 latest) on Saturday 28th September 2019.
This website is the centre for information about the Queen’s Park Ward Area Neighbourhood Forum. The Forum is a group of people from the local community who live or work in the area shown by the map below; anyone from that community can join. The Forum is approved by the council to create a document called a Neighbourhood Plan. This will become a part of the council Planning legislation that governs all planning applications in the ward.
The neighbourhood area is the pre-2019 Queen’s Park electoral ward (hence the “Ward Area” in our full name) as shown to the left. There is no current need nor intention to change the area to match the new electoral boundaries.

The country is short of homes and not enough new ones are being built. The government intends to increase the number of new homes (Policy Paper). The Council has assessed that targets for new dwellings in Bournemouth will almost double from the previous plans (White Paper). A Neighbourhood Plan will let us, the community, influence how our area changes.
A Neighbourhood Plan will give us statutory powers to shape the development of our area. The Plan will set planning policies for the neighbourhood area; these will be used to decide whether or not to approve Planning Applications.
This gives us, the people who know and love the area, rather than the Local Planning Authority, a powerful tool to ensure we get the right types of development, in the right places.
